answers

What is meant by Life Science degree?
In this case Life Science means any discipline focusing on biology, organic chemistry, medicine, or related fields.

Examples can include genetics, bioinformatics, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, medical science, neuroscience, etc.
When should I start and how long does it take to get hired?
Hiring can vary depending on the economy, geographic location, and skillsets you possess. Competitive clients that are willing to relocate to major US biotech hubs (Boston/Cambridge, San Diego, San Francisco), can expect an offer in approximately 6 months.  Based on that, my recommendation is to begin the program 6 months before you think you’ll need a job.
Do coaching fees change depending on how long I take to get hired?
No. The coaching fees are fixed, and independent on how long it takes for you to get hired.
What if I don't get hired after coaching?
I've never had a client not get hired, but it is a theoretically possible outcome.

If you fully invest your time and effort into my 1:1 coaching, you will be a competitive applicant and a job offer is an inevitable result.
What makes you different from other companies helping scientists?
Many other companies focus on "all PhDs". As a result, most of the advice they give ends up being overgeneralized and can be inaccurate.

I focus on what I know, which is what I have already succeeded at doing. I have a PhD in Medical Science, have completed 2 postdocs, and worked in 6 different roles in biotech with several product launches under my belt.

Within those roles I have been a hiring manager responsible and accountable for hiring decisions. The coaching that I provide is based on direct experience in a field I know intimately and have a deep network in.

I am also one of the very few companies that offers 1:1 advising, custom tailored to your needs.
What if I get a job offer and it is rescinded before I start?
If the job offer is rescinded before you start, this will not be held against you and our 1:1 coaching relationship will continue based on the terms of our contract.
What if I accept a job offer, then get laid off?
I wish I had control over these types of things. I've never had anyone accept an offer and then get laid off, but I know it happens.

Once you accept an offer and begin working at a company, our coaching agreement is considered fulfilled.

Keep in mind however, that as a mentee you have lifetime membership to the Trulitica Community, which will continue to build your network and provide opportunities for you.
What if we need to meet more than once in a week?
On some occasions, I do meet with clients more than once in a week.

For example, if we meet on Monday, then on Tuesday you are invited to interview for Friday, I will make every effort to meet with you again before Friday to prepare you for your interview.
What kind of roles do you help people get?
Within the biotech space, I focus helping people get technical & hybrid roles such as R&D, assay development, scientist, product development, bioinformatics, quality control, process development, technical operations, field applications, and manufacturing science.

I have also helped clients apply for clinical project management roles.
Who can do custom 1:1 coaching with you?
My custom 1:1 coaching packages are for individuals who already have experience in the biotech industry, or academic scientists who have completed the Break into Biotech Course.
What kind of roles do you not help people get?
For my 1:1 advising program, at this time I do not focus on management consulting, business development, account management, product management, or program management.

I may however have contacts that can help with these needs and am happy to provide a referral.
What is the difference between your 1:1 coaching and the Break into Biotech Course?
My 1:1 coaching program is a high-touch, custom tailored program where I am with you every step of the way from the beginning until accept your offer and start your new job.

It's everything you would want from a coach and puts your interests first. It also includes lifetime membership to the Trulitica Community.

The Break into Biotech Course covers all of the same topics that I cover in my coaching program, but without 1:1 time with me, which allows me to charge a much lower price for it. If after completing the course you need help troubleshooting, we can work together to come up with an affordable custom package to address your specific questions.
Can you introduce me to other people in your network?
Yes. I work with all of my 1:1 clients to ensure that when they are interested in a job opportunity, I connect them with anyone I may know in the company. This can result in referrals or a direct path to the hiring manager.
Do you help me get referrals?
Yes. In my 1:1 coaching packages, I teach you how to network, and leverage my own network so you can effectively build relationships, understand the pain points of the company, and get referrals when appropriate.
Are you a recruiter?
No. I represent you and your interests only.
If I get hired quickly, but haven't completed the entire advising program, can we still work together, until it is finished?
Yes! If you get hired before you finish the entire program, I am happy to continue teaching you the skills you need for future hiring, but only if you want. Totally up to you.
