What’s happening inside the community
When we say we’re not another career community, we really mean it. Yes, we’ve got content and events to help you grow and advance — but the greatest value is in the connections, not the calendar.
Here’s what you can expect when you join us:
Authentic conversations
The best discussions usually start because someone says the thing everyone else was thinking. Sometimes it’s a big career question. Sometimes it’s frustration, excitement, or curiosity. Sometimes it’s a really vulnerable moment of confusion or uncertainty.
And instead of posturing or throwing around platitudes, people respond with honesty, encouragement, lived experience, and thoughtful perspective. This kind of openness creates an authentic atmosphere that’s different from other career communities.
Our members show up with the real deal, not the highlight reel. It’s refreshing, and it gives us all permission to be ourselves.

Course access and office hours
All community members get access to the legendary Break Into Biotech course, which includes 5 hours of detailed video content and 20 downloadable resources.
Our founder Ali also makes himself available for office hours a few times a month. You can visit him during any office hours session to get firsthand access to his expertise about navigating academic life, transitioning into biotech, and finding ways to thrive and advance in industry.
Book Club
Communication, psychology, leadership, decision-making — we’ve covered a lot of topics in our book club.
Some conversions get deep. Some get weird. Some spiral into passionate forty-message threads about a single line in a book. It’s a fun, interactive way to learn, grow, and follow our curiosity while creating even more opportunity for connection.
Some popular recent reads include Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss and Atomic Habits by James Clear.

In-person meetups
We host occasional in-person meetups when we can get a few of us in the same place at the same time. Online friendships often feel more real when you’ve shared coffee or tacos.
These events have been a big hit and we’re hoping to do more of them in the future. So far we’ve had beach trips in San Diego, a delicious Friendsgiving at Ali’s house, coffee in New York, and even impromptu airport get-togethers when members have been traveling at the same time.
Guest speaker talks
Every week, we host interactive sessions with scientists, founders, operators, recruiters, and leaders across biotech and pharma.
These aren’t stiff webinar-style events where everyone sits on mute and disappears the moment the talk is over. The best part of these sessions is what they spark — unexpected insights, shared experiences, lively question-and-answer sessions, and follow-up ideas.

Navigating the messy middle
If you’re burned out, frustrated with politics, feeling totally lost about your career path, or trying to bounce back from a layoff, this is a safe space for you.
We’ve all been there. Some of us are still there. And we get through it together.
We know you don’t need more formulaic tips in these moments. What you usually need is to know you’re not alone and feel like someone is in your corner, and that’s exactly what you can expect. We can’t tell you the next step that’s right for you, but we’ll help you navigate the uncertainty with plenty of support.

Meme contests, fun, and friendship
Not every interaction needs to be serious to matter.
Our community is full of small moments that make difficult weeks easier: celebrating job offers, sharing conference stories, posting absurdly niche PI memes, and simply enjoying a little watercooler conversation.
Our weekly meme contests are also pretty legendary. If your meme game is strong, you’ll definitely fit in.
